What is first aid?

  • The assistance someone provides to an injured person until trained medical personnel arrive.


    What are the four life saving steps, (in order)?

  • Clear the airway
  • Stop the bleeding
  • Treat for shock
  • Protect the wound

    Easy way to remember is ABCD. (Note: This is just a guideline. The correct responses have changed. The correct responses are the ones above.)
  • (Clear the) Airway
  • (Stop the) Bleeding
  • Control (for Shock)
  • Dress (and bandage the wound)


    What is the purpose of the Heimlich maneuver?
  • To clear a blocked airway.
